HONOLULU — The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 1186 (IBEW) is the latest major Hawai‘i organization to endorse Makana Paris for the OHA At-Large seat.

“We are confident that your support for labor and the concerns of working families in Hawai‘i will guide you in your continuing service in the OHA,” said Damien T.K. Kim, Business Manager and Financial Secretary for IBEW.

“I am humbled to accept the endorsement of IBEW 1186,” Makana Paris said. “OHA needs to work together with all aspects of Hawai‘i’s economy, especially those organizations which contain a high proportion of Native Hawaiians like IBEW and other labor organizations, to rebuild trust in OHA and secure the future of Native Hawaiians and all of Hawai‘i.”

IBEW Local Union 1186 is comprised of over 4,000 working members and active retirees statewide.  The IBEW is the industry leader in construction, telecommunications, public utility, federal government, and service contracts.  IBEW members are the highest skilled, best trained and most productive workforce in the electrical industry, and are responsible for over 75% of all the electrical work performed in the state of Hawaii.  For more information, visit:
