International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Endorses Makana Paris for OHA At-Large
HONOLULU — International Longshore and Warehouse Union, ILWU Local 142 has endorsed Makana Paris for the OHA At-Large seat.
ILWU, represents nearly 18,000 members in Hawai‘i who live and work throughout the state. Members are employed in every major industry, including longshore, general trades, tourism and agriculture. The ILWU is dedicated to bettering the lives of working people, democratically as a leader of social progress.
“We especially hope to find ways to promote the unionization of workers in OHA-funded businesses, thereby providing benefits and protections for Hawai‘i’s workers and families, growing the economy, and improving our communities,” said Donna Domingo, President and Local Political Action Committee Chair.
“I look forward to working with ILWU to establish better economic opportunities and partnerships with Native Hawaiian workers so we can provide jobs, housing, healthcare, and education for our families.” said Makana Paris.
ILWU joins the Hawai‘i Ironworkers and the Painters and Allied Trades Union District Council 50 as the third major Hawai‘i union to endorse Makana Paris for the OHA At-Large seat.
